Introducing: Overlay With Reference Data
For all subscribers there is a new feature available with the next recorder update for both ACC and LMU.
All laps you have access to, can now be sent to the recorder as a reference and displayed in a purpose built overlay.
The reference data is synced to where you are on track. This way you can copy the reference's inputs as you are driving.
How to use
Syncing Data
Any lap on the website you have access to will have a small radio-icon at the top of every opened lap. Either click on a lap:
- in "my laps", or
- open a lap from a purchased data pack, or
- from within a team
- and find the "radio" icon on top of the page - CLICK! (more and easier access points are coming)
Now just also hit "sync lap" in the recorder screen for the data to appear. Drive!
If you want to clear the reference data, press "clear lap" and only your own inputs will appear.
If you want to show another lap, just hit the radio icon on the website of another lap, sync again - done!
Position and Size
We recommend positioning the UI using the (temporary Y+-, W+-, H+-) buttons in the recorder window where you can easily see the upcoming inputs without having to take your eyes off the road and build references on track alongside the reference provided by the recorder. More options to adjust the appearance (size, colors) will follow.
Streaming
The overlay will show with a black background in OBS.
Add a "effect filter" to the window source of the overlay and add a color key in #000000 black.
Known issues and future functions
- Sometimes the black background will be in the foreground when first starting the recorder. Alt+tab or just clicking anywhere with the mouse should bring back the game.
- horizontal adjustments are missing
- Silverstone and Spa in ACC have a slight offset of the finish line in the overlay. This does not affect the rest of the data points - so feel free to ignore
- we are aware of potential green/red vision difficulties. Allowing custom colors is on our todo
- a real time delta is planned
- a horizontal position comparison to the reference is also in the making allowing you to easier position your car correctly
Report any bugs on Discord and hope this helps improving lap times further!
