Porsche 992 GT3 Cup Data & Setup Pack for COTA.
Approach
The target is a reliable rear end that will not surprise you and let you know before it lets go. A general issue of the Porsche is too cold fronts and too hot rears. Both will be much better with this setup. The setup is operating without any negative toe and thus gives much more consistent driving behavior than typical eSpOrTs Setups.
COTA
Another ultimate challenge for this car. The high speed turns hold a lot of lap time and therefor we need to get the car to rotate here. The problem is that the slower corners will become more oversteery as a result. I tried to find a balance where we will get rotation in the fast turns, but keep the car in check in the slower turns. If its too aggressive for you, there are plenty of adjustments to sort it out. Additionally the weight transfers in all the esses on COTA are challenging for a rear engined car, so controlling these and making them predictable is a key area.
The other tricky bit is the driving and where you place the car and how you put emphasis on which part of a corner through the esses. Following my line is crucial in regards to where you want to go wide and where remain tight.
You have a lot of impact on the car behavior depending how quickly, how sharp your inputs are. The less sudden you are, especially in transitions, the more likely the car will stay stable. An example with the throttle is the quadruple right hander in the last sector, where just letting go of the throttle will send the car understeering, but if you ease out of the throttle it will slowly load the front and remain the grip.
Adjustments
There is rotation to gain by adding more front camber or more rake.
More oversteer (general/mid turn/exit):
- more front camber
- more rake
- less wing (not a good idea though)
More oversteer (brake/entry):
- reduce brake bias (not advised for the stint, as it wears the rears more under braking)
More understeer
- higher front ride height / lower rear ride height (this will hurt pouhon)
- even less front camber
- one extra click of rear wing
- higher brake bias
Race
The setup should start off rather stable and slowly get more oversteery throughout the stint. The fuel is set for the full hour including formation lap. Keep your cool, you need to keep the rear tires alive :)
