Porsche 992 GT3 Cup Data & Setup Pack for the Paul Ricard.
Approach
TFor once I am going for lap time in this bundle. Therefor the rear will use negative toe, which makes the car more responsive at initial steering inputs, but once the rear leans into the tire a little later than usual, there is similar support at more available rotation. The fast and long corners on Paul Ricard just offer a lot of laptime to be gained this way, that it will be hard to be competitive without. Yet, I try to mitigate the bumps by going with a soft ride.
Paul Ricard
A mixture of long high speed turns and late apex tight bends. ABS 2 is better here than on other tracks, but if you feel lucky, ABS 1 holds some extra lap time - probably needs BB further forward. Additionally the kerbs pose a challenge and opportunity at the same time. You can have them work against you or - once you find the right line and input - you can hook the car onto the kerb and get pulled around nicely. The throttle pedal is more important here than elsewhere. With just the throttle position you control the power output, the differential locking, the understeer or oversteer tendency, as well as the intensity of the coasting. Knowing when, where, how and why to use the throttle is immensely beneficial here to extract lap time. I hope the reference data gives you the clue.
Adjustments
You can generally go back to more neutral or positive toe on the rear if you favor more stability. As a counter measure you will likely want to reduce the front anti roll bar and perhaps increase the rake.
More oversteer (general/mid turn/exit):
- more front camber
- more rake
- less wing (not a good idea though)
- more rear ARB
More oversteer (brake/entry):
- reduce brake bias (not advised for the stint, as it wears the rears more under braking)
More understeer
- higher front ride height (this will hurt the fast turns)
- even less front camber
- lower rear ride height
- more front ARB
- higher brake bias
Race
The setup should start off rather stable and slowly get more oversteery throughout the stint. The fuel is set for the full hour including formation lap. Keep your cool, you need to keep the rear tires alive :)
