Updated both setups. Qualifying was made a bit more aggressive but most of the lap time came by driving improvement with a possible 42.8 when going on throttle just a tiny bit earlier in every corner group. Race setup was made safer since the old one balanced the severe graining in the earlier patch. With this removal the setup is much more consistent instead of an overrotating car in the beginning of the stint. You can still use the old setups if they suit you better.

The McLaren for me had a too much rotation off throttle which made it quite hard to manage with trail braking. Thus it was easier to do somewhat binary brake inputs and just let it coast in order to get somewhat decent lap times. This is still possible with these setups, but be careful to manage its pitch with smooth steering and throttle inputs. Smooth throttle inputs can control the nose the way you want it to position.

Turn 12 though can benefit from trail braking but it is not mandatory.

With the 1.9 update the car inspires way more confidence over the curbs and bumps. You can take a lot of advantages of this in the busstop chicane.

The race setup was aimed towards an endurance race, so it is a turned back approach compared to the qualifying set. It still is quite pitch sensitive and might have the tendency to over rotate in the beginning of the stint. You can control this by tiny throttle inputs. It will balance out over the stint once the front loses grip.

In a race setting be careful not to slide too much, in order not to burn your tyres. TC 1 probably won't work as it burns the rears really fast.

Electronics:

TC 1, 2, 3 can work for Qualifying
TC 2, 3 can work for Race with 3 being best for saving the rears, 1 is fastest but burns rear tyres (with the update viable since the pace drop isn't severe)
ABS higher if more intervention is needed.

 

Adjustments:

  • You can adjust brake bias to your liking (higher for stability, lower for agility)
  • adjust rear ride height for over/understeer by 1mm steps
  • increase rear toe for less overall rotation
  • Decrease rear wheel rate / rear bumpstop rate for less overall rotation
