Setup Notes
Use preload to tune the car to your driving style.
Higher Preload = Less rotation on entry, more rotation on exit
Lower Preload = More rotation on entry, less rotation on exit
Quali setup has an aggressive rake setting so you can carry more speed through Eacu Rouge. If you find that you experience rear instability on top of the hill, reduce the Rear Ride Height by 2 clicks, like it is in the race setup.
Corner By Corner Driving Guide
T1 - Brake just as you lose vision of the 100m board on the left. Keep braking in a straight line for long, don't purposefully try to hit the inside curb, let the slight locking of the rear tyres get you there.
T3/4/5 - A proper corner in this car! Setup has been adjusted to remove as much understeer as possible. Important to note: You have to lift & brake here, but not to slow the car down, but to move the nose of the car more into the ground to create front downforce. So make sure you never full lift off the throttle.
T7/8/9 - Slightly past the middle between 200 and 100m board you find the braking point here. Again, make sure to remain straight under braking for as long as possible, as otherwise you will induce too much rear locking. Keep it in 4th gear, even though 3rd seems tempting. You can use inside curbs a tiny bit to aid rotation, but be aware that track limits are fairly strict here. Your main goal is the be as far to the left as possible before T9, so you can keep your throttle lift there to a minimum, purely to make the car rotate instead of slowing the car down.
T10 - Brake lsightly before the curb starts on the left. Keep the downshifts nice and smooth, you don't want to induce any additional tyre locking to the one you will experience due to the corner being downhill. It's okay to not hit the inside immediately, but be there once you reach the middle of the corner, If you stay wide for too long, front grip will not recover.
T11 - Bring it all the way back to the outside out of 10. Keep it in 3rd gear, even though it feels like you could get away with 4th. Get as close to the inside curb as possible without touching it, which would lose you some time instantly. Also be aware of strict track limits on the exit. You can go all 4 wheels past the white line by a few cm, but not much more!
T12 - Brake just before the flag display, ideally with your outside tyres on the wheel. If you feel too violent vibrations going there, try increasing your in-game FFB-Smoothing a bit. Keep it in 5th gear, do not initiate a downshift here. You need to trail the brakes for long, deep into the corner. The easiest way to lose time in this corner, is to hit the outside curb between both apexes, which will momentarily lose you turning momentum. So you really want to have that front being low and making the car turn as good as possible.
T13/14 - Very difficult entry, as the rear is always prone to lock a little bit. Over one lap, it can be faster to play with that (as shown in my lap), but do yourself a favour and limit any corrections you have to make here through the first apex to preserve tyres in the race. On the exit, be aware that cut track detection can already pop up before you go 4 wheels past the white line.
T15 - Brake just before the outside curb starts, but do not use it. Again, the rear is always on the limit of locking up, the easiest way to maintain stability is to delay your downshift to 3rd for as long as possible, potentially even past the apex of the corner.
T16 - Lifting early, lifting for longer beats lifiting late and lifting much. Taking too much inside curb will slow the car down, taking too much outside curb will give you a cut track warning.
T18 - Similar situation here. My lap shows a late and abrupt lift. This works well over one lap, as, if done correct, you have the chance to carry a bit more speed through the corner. In the race, however, focus on making it a smaller lift for longer, with slight brake application to bring the nose down. Again, outside cuts are rather strict, but you still do not want to leave too much time on the table here, as a great passing opportunity is just ahead.
T19/20 - You can brake just beyond the white line across the track. Again, keep it straight for long. Taking the first curb is not required, but possible. You definitely do want to open up the 2nd apex by quite a bit, so do not carry all the speed you can through the first apex, just to end up with a very sharp second one.
